Monday Grunge

After such beautiful weather this weekend Monday is the kid throwing a tantrum as it's dragged back to school for the week. Terrible timing for that analogy given that half term has just started, but what a horrible, grey day it has been.

I don't often go for dark eyes these days and I'm not sure what made me feel that way inclined today so I'm going to blame the weather. It's such a great, effortless way to add a little drama to your eyes without going glam. I suppose some may think it looks more like I've forgotten to take off my makeup from the night before, but I like that it's a little rough and ready, maybe that's the grunge teenager inside of me talking.

This is probably the simplest eye makeup I ever wear, just one shade of eyeshadow and not even having to be particularly neat. I used the black from the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette, which is still my go to the majority of the time. All I do is pat it on with one brush and smudge it out a little with a clean one. I've also used a Make Up For Ever Aqua XL liner on my water line for added intensity. If I'm going for dark eyes at all I tend not to wear much on my lips. I'll use a matte nude at most but today I only have a lick of balm by Burt's Bees.

Short but sweet today, I'm finding it hard to concentrate after a rough night's sleep and a current lack of drive but I thought this might be a nice look to share given that I don't wear it often. Does anyone else find it hard to be motivated when it's drizzly outside?

If this makeup is your jam you might enjoy another grunge look I shared last year using a another Kat Von D palette.
